Full-time Day Program Counselor

Location: Silver Spring, MD

We are currently offering $1,000.00 sign on bonuses! Bonuses are payable in two installments ($500.00 with first paycheck, and $500.00 after satisfactory completion of six-month probationary period).

What We’re Looking For:

Rock Creek Foundation is seeking a Full-time Day Program Counselor to join our team in Silver Spring, MD! As a Life Coach, you will be responsible for supporting people with disabilities achieve personal goals, as well as find meaningful work to increase their independence and social interconnectedness.

What You’ll Get:

What You’ll Do:

  • Counsels’ individuals, assisting them to identify and resolve problems and make effective use of resources.
  • Helps individuals understand mental illness and how it affects their health and lifestyle.
  • Encourages individuals to do things for themselves to retain feelings of independence and self-esteem.
  • Arrange necessary training and therapy to help clients meet their goals.
  • Strives to place individuals in gainful employment after acquisition of marketable skills.
  • Assist the individual in resolving work related problems or difficulties.
  • Provide hands-on vocational training to advance clients' work skills.
  • Maintains working relationships with staff of other agencies and institutions, homes, and facilities, and acts as liaison between clients and agency or institution.
  • Prepares and maintains written case records, reports, and forms, performs case follow-up and closing, and performs other administrative tasks as required.

What We Require:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with Adults diagnosed with varying mental health and intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software
  • Must be able to work with “high-risk” consumers who have mental illnesses as well as developmental and physical disabilities.
