Peer Recovery Specialist

The Peer Recovery Specialist position is an exciting opportunity for mental health professionals who enjoy making a difference in people’s lives, and for people with first-hand knowledge of recovery to work as part of a  team serving people in crisis in Harford County. We are currently seeking a candidate who has 3 plus years in active recovery and 5 years of lived experience such as a mental health disorder, substance abuse, or a co-occuring disorder, for the Affiliated Santé Group's Harford County Crisis Response team. This is a full-time hourly position that pays $19.00/hour

HCCRS is a comprehensive Crisis Response Center that offers emergency mental health services to Harford County residents through a variety of service components including:

  • Mobile Crisis Teams
  • Crisis Stabilization Services
  • Follow Up and Referrals 
  • Integration and Collaboration 

The Peer Recovery Specialist will assess, evaluate, and perform crisis intervention techniques, and will develop a crisis plan for continuation of services related to individual clients. She or he will be responsible for all incident documentation, and will be the on-site resource for any relevant clinical information, as well as the liaison for collaboration with other involved parties including families, friends, and other community providers (all under clinical supervision of an LCSW-C/LCPC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certification, or willingness to become certified within one year of accepting position
  • Lived experience of recovery from an addiction or co-occurring disorder
  • 3 plus years in active recovery and 5 years of lived experience (mental health disorder, substance abuse, or a co-occuring disorder)
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible schedule
  • Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook)
  • Must be able to be trained on Electronic Consumer Record software
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals in need and the professional staff of service provider agencies
  • Accepting attitude regarding multiple pathways to recovery
